SILENT WOMEN'S RETREAT #9
Theme: Eucharistic Revival and our Call to Service
From the feeding of the multitude to washing the feet of his disciples, Jesus embodied Eucharist with a call to service.
About the Theme: Pope Francis often emphasizes how the Eucharist transforms us to be “instruments of communion” in the world. The challenge at the conclusion of Mass to “go in peace,” is a summons to be justice seekers and peacemakers where there is division, polarization, poverty, and injustice. This retreat will explore how, in the Holy Father’s words, we only become “credible witnesses” of the real presence of the Eucharist when we serve “those who are poor, suffering, weary, or who may go astray in life.”
Presenter: Fr. Joe Nassal is a Missionary of the Precious Blood who has been engaged in retreat, renewal, and reconciliation ministry since 1988. He is the author of eight books including The Conspiracy of Compassion, Rest Stops for the Soul, and Premeditated Mercy. Ordained in 1982, Fr. Joe has served in parish, justice and peace, formation, and vocation ministry for his religious community, including 25 years in leadership. He was provincial director of the Kansas City Province from 2011-2019. In June 2022, he was elected vice-provincial of the United States Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. 2002. He now lives in Berkeley, CA where he is part of a team to establish a Mission House of Prayer for those who minister on the margins.
